Happy Earth Day

We at WorldLife would like to wish you all a very happy Earth Day! Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the first Earth Day, which drew over 20 million people nationwide to protest the massive amount of pollution being emitted. This movement helped spur the creation of the clean air act, the clean water act, the endangered species act, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  So we at WorldLife encourage everyone to do something for the environment today, tomorrow, the whole week, and hopefully soon it will be second nature.  Follow us this week to learn some fun ways to shrink your environmental footprint And enter for your chance to win some green gear, as well as Two Free Tickets to the South Denver Beer Festival on May 4th and 5th.  Stay Hydrated, Stay Conscious.

Green Tip #311

Push for recycling programs. Push them for schools, your office, anywhere that can utilize recycling. The more we recycle, the less raw material we have to use to produce new products.

Choose paints that are low in VOC’s (volatile organic compounds). Paints that contain compounds such as heavy metals can be extremely detrimental to the environment. Look for paints that have mineral bases instead.

Green Tip #308

Brew a better cup. If you’ve made the decision to purchase fair trade coffee beans, don’t offset that good with a machine that wastes energy. French presses not only cut down on paper waste, they use no energy!

Green Tip #307

Look for appliances with the energy star logo. Developed by the EPA in 1992, these appliances have superior energy efficiency compared to conventional appliances. This in turn will help you reduce your energy consumption AND reduce your monthly energy bill.

Green Tip #306

Instead of throwing away your old furniture or household appliances, donate them. Many companies will take your old stuff, fix it up, and sell it. This helps sustain our planet and keeps money in the local markets.
